Innovative partnership: Gecina is supporting artistic creation by opening up its headquarters to the Opéra Comique
Gecina is opening up its auditorium in Paris to the Opéra Comique so it can continue with its activities while its theatre is being renovated.
Gecina and the Opéra Comique were initially brought together by the Gecina Foundation when it supported the theatre to make some of its performances accessible for disabled people. This partnership has continued to develop after the Opéra Comique closed for extensive renovation work.
Gecina is making its headquarters available to the Opéra Comique so it can continue with its activities, and preparations are underway for a groundbreaking project. For this occasion, the auditorium has had a temporary refit, with a stage platform transformed to facilitate the production and scenery work. Thanks to this innovative partnership, a web-opera will be broadcast live online on February 21, 2016.
Through this initiative, Gecina is confirming its commitment to supporting artistic creation with the Opéra Comique, and developing open, shared services within its portfolio.
As Philippe Valade, Gecina’s General Secretary, explains: “As part of our innovative pilot projects, by opening up Gecina’s headquarters for the Opéra Comique’s artistic activities, we are further strengthening our role within the city, helping bring different approaches to work together”.
Gérard Desportes, the Opéra Comique’s Secretary General, adds: “This partnership is enabling the Opéra Comique to maintain its schedule of performances while its theatre is being renovated, and offering opportunities for families and children to enjoy an opera that will be broadcast live online from 6 pm on February 21”.
