Gecina Signs the Adaptation Charter
At the Low-Carbon Real Estate Fair (SIBCA), Gecina signed the Adaptation Charter, an initiative jointly led by the Observatoire de l'immobilier durable (OID) and the Plan Bâtiment Durable.
This Charter provides a voluntary framework for real estate stakeholders seeking to better anticipate and reduce their vulnerability to the effects of climate change. It calls on signatories to analyze the risks to which their assets are exposed, set goals, and implement adaptation measures, while promoting training and the sharing of experiences within the industry.
Gecina’s commitment to the charter reflects the Group’s determination to continue and structure its efforts to enhance the resilience of its portfolio by integrating climate change adaptation challenges into its real estate strategy from the very outset of project design.
Thus, as part of its CAN0P 2030 plan aimed at drastically reducing the carbon footprint and energy consumption of its portfolio, Gecina has set ambitious goals: by 2030, 100% of the Group’s assets under development will undergo an analysis of their vulnerability to flood and heat wave risks and will incorporate a dynamic thermal simulation based on the IPCC’s RCP 8.5 scenario.
These analyses will make it possible to anticipate climate changes and to incorporate, from the design phase onward, solutions tailored to the specific characteristics and risks of each asset.
