Solidarity Friday 2019: linking up closely with charities

On September 20, and for the third consecutive year, all of Gecina’s staff devoted one day of their work time to support various charities, this time at different sites across Paris and the Greater Paris Region

Launched in 2017, Solidarity Friday has become a key moment in our company’s life. It aims to enable all staff to discover the day-to-day reality of charities and contribute, for one full day, to their missions, in a welcoming and engaging atmosphere.

Unlike in previous years, when charities and staff were brought together in one place, this year, to ensure that our efforts could be as useful as possible, we headed out to meet the charities, as close as possible to the places where they operate. All of the Group’s 520 staff, therefore, split into teams of 10 to 20 people to link up with the 17 charities supported during this day at 25 different sites across the Paris Region.

The charities that worked with us for Solidarity Friday 2019 all share Gecina’s community commitments, which are built around three key areas:

  • Protecting people in fragile situations (illness, disability, support for underprivileged people)
  • Protecting our environment (preserving biodiversity, promoting the circular economy)
  • Protecting our heritage, our resources that are shared by everyone.

During this day, all of our staff were able to actively engage in and put into practice these commitments on their own level.

Thank you to the 17 charities mobilized, including some current partners of Gecina’s company foundation

The French national forestry office (ONF), Les Clayes Handisport, Chaussettes Orphelines, the French disability hockey federation, Handi’chiens, Potager du Roi, Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris, Philharmonie de Paris, Pitié-Salpêtrière Charles Foix, Cité de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine, Emmaüs Solidarité, Habitat & Humanisme, Les enfants de la goutte d’Or, L’envol, the OVE Foundation, Le paysan urbain and Les murs à pêches.

Solidarity walk to support the charity Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque

This day was also an opportunity to support the charity Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque, a longstanding partner of our Foundation, through a sponsored walk[1].12,000 euros were raised thanks to the 1216.05 km walked by our staff during this Solidarity Friday event!
